As part of its ongoing industry-academia collaboration with Nestlé Korea starting from 2023, our university provided students with a meaningful opportunity to experience the work environment of a global company on Friday, May 16. This marked the first time a domestic university in Korea has visited Nestlé Korea’s headquarters, making it a noteworthy example of linking education with industry.

In October 2023, our university signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nestlé Korea, a global food and beverage company, to strengthen industry-academia cooperation. The two institutions jointly launched a Capstone Design course this year for the first time. The course is a hands-on program in which business-major students analyze real corporate issues and present their findings in the form of projects.

On the day of the visit, 45 students enrolled in the course visited Nestlé Korea’s headquarters in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, accompanied by Professor Lee Shin-hyung from the Department of Business Administration and staff from the University Job Plus Center.

The visit began with a welcome speech by Thomas Caso, Head of Nestlé Korea, followed by presentations on the company’s DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) policies and youth talent development programs. Students then participated in a panel talk with current employees and were provided with department-specific mentoring sessions. Through direct interaction with experts, students gained valuable insights into the organizational culture and operational practices of a global corporation.

Student Lee Yoo-bin (Business Administration, Class of ’23) shared her thoughts on the experience, saying, “I was able to get a glimpse of a company where individuals can fully demonstrate their abilities within a horizontal and open corporate culture. I was deeply moved by Nestlé Korea’s genuine passion and commitment to supporting the younger generation.”

Following this visit, President Moon Si-yeun also plans to host a meeting with Nestlé Korea CEO Thomas Casau.on Friday, May 30, to explore ways to expand industry-academia cooperation programs. The university will actively promote internships, field training, and joint education programs, and aims to take the lead in nurturing global female talent based on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) principles.

Son Seo-hee, Director of the University Job Plus Center, stressed, “This on-site visit went beyond a simple tour — it became a meaningful opportunity to connect students’ career paths with expanded internship opportunities and extracurricular programs.” She added, “We will continue to build a sustainable industry-academia cooperation model through ongoing partnerships with multinational companies, where both students and businesses can grow together.”
